New York is Dangerous Territory for Wallets

Here's why:
Yes, the fruits of my shopping...
Top row: Dress Elle via Kohl's, Top Anthropologie, Dress Urban Outfitters, Dress Forever 21
Shoe row: Flats Alfani via Macy's, Booties MIA via DSW
Last row: Cardigan Ralph Lauren Sport, Shirt Forver 21, Blazer Gap, Dress Free People (Thrifted), Belt Anthropologie, Ring Thrifted, Books: Howard's End By E. M. Forster, Sonnets from The Portugese And Other Poems By Elizabeth Barrett-Browning.

Some of these things were bought in New York State, which is not as dangerous as New York City. Seriously, it is crazy there. You can spend money at every corner, shops you love just pop out right in front of you.
But now I have put myself on a shopping ban until I got to Lyon in October, because a) I want to be a more savvy and responsible shopper and b) I need to save money. So there will be no purchasing of clothes, shoes, accessories, make-up, and books until then. The only exceptions are things on my list of things I truly need, which include and are limited to a winter cape and the perfect winter boots (the "What I want" - List is a different story, that one includes leo print flats, a trench coat, a red winter coat, and a cashmere sweater...). So wish me luck!

Have you ever put yourself on a shopping ban? Any tips on how to make it? These ladies are definitely my role models, they managed for an entire year...

Lovely purchases! I have put myself on shopping bans before and I have to say if you let yourself still buy the needs you should be fine.

It's fun to go on a shopping spree every now and then! I put myself on a shopping ban for a month every now and then when I need to save money for something, and all you need to do is be creative with what you have! It's not too hard and it makes you see your closet in a whole new way.

So fun to shop, so hard to be on a shopping diet. But a few new good pieces can last you through a season, especially if you have bought wisely in the past.

Ohhh you did good, so many great things! I'm trying a shopping ban but I always make them very unofficial and they NEVER last long. whomp whomp.

I live less than 2 hours from NYC, and resist the urge so many times to go to NYC simply because I don't want to spend loads of money (that I don't even have, haha.)

Alfani is actually a Macy's owned brand. You can sometimes get them at discount stores (like DSW), but they are actually owned by Macy's Incorporated.

I sold women's shoes for almost a year at Macy's, thus, I know.
